Silent Night Post Office & Silent Night stamps

 

 

Each year around christmas, the special "Silent Night" post office opens its doors in Oberndorf bei Salzburg. In importance and popularity it ranks second after the special "Christkindl" post office, both of which are managed by the Österreichische Post.

All letters and postcards that are brought to this post office, will be sent with the current Austrian Christmas stamp and will be stamped with the special "Silent Night" postmark. Since 2004 also the Silent Night Association is publishing a Silent Night Stamp every year.

Christmas Stamp 2005: St. Nikolaus Church. Due to major damage after heavy floods at the end of the 19th century, the church was completely taken down. Günter Veichtlbauer / Nußdorf am Haunsberg
